Adult High School (AHS)
Adult High School is a program of instruction offered by the North Carolina Community College System in cooperation with local public school systems to help students earn an Adult High School Diploma (AHSD).
Adult High School is offered by 42 of the 58 community colleges in North Carolina.
- The program consists of core courses required by the public school system, along with electives offered by the community college.
- The number of units (20-28) varies depending upon the specific agreement between a particular community college and the local public school system.
- The program consists of classroom work, labs, or individual study projects - or a combination of all three.
- A work experience component may be offered.
To Receive Your Adult High School Diploma
- You must pass the North Carolina Competency Test in order to graduate.
- Your Adult High School diploma will be issued locally by the community college.
