CAMPUS SUMMARY
Catawba Valley Community College is an innovative, comprehensive community college that fosters an environment focused on Academic Excellence, Globalization and Diversity, Economic and Workforce Development, and Student and Community Engagement to empower individuals and enrich the community through premier edcuational programs and services centered on teaching and learning. Catawba Valley Community College was established by the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction as the ninth school of its kind in the state in April 1958. In 1964, the College awarded its first Associate Degree in Applied Science. In 1979, the name of the institution was changed to Catawba Valley Technical College, then in 1987 the State Board of Community Colleges officially approved CVTC to become Catawba Valley Community College. The College continues as a publicly supported coeducational institution.
