| Mount Olive College was founded in 1951 by the Original Free Will Baptist Church. It is a private and liberal arts college offering the bachelor and associate degrees. The original campus is in the rural town of Mount Olive (population 5,000), located 12 miles south of Goldsboro, North Carolina, and 60 miles east of Raleigh-Durham International Airport and the capital city of Raleigh, via I-40 and NC Hwy 55. Daytime and evening classes are offered at the Mount Olive campus, where residence halls can accommodate about 320 students. Locations in other NC cities include Goldsboro at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, Jacksonville, New Bern, Research Triangle Park (Raleigh-Durham), Washington and Wilmington. Accelerated modular programs for nontraditional students, during the evening hours, are offered at these locations.
The mission of Mount Olive College is to operate and maintain a private church-affiliated college for the education of men and women that offers programs, including professional studies that are rooted in the liberal arts tradition and provided in an environment nurtured by Christian values. The college community strives to maintain and support academic excellence through higher learning and higher values in a community of persons dedicated to the practice and advancement of Christian ideals. Further, the mission encourages higher standards with relevant educational programs reflecting an emphasis on the personal growth of each student at places and times that enhance the possible. Sixteen athletic teams for men and women compete in NCAA II baseball, softball, basketball, golf, tennis, soccer, volleyball, track & field and cross-country. Fall, Spring, and Summer terms are offered at the Mount Olive and Goldsboro campuses; year round enrollment occurs at other locations. Financial aid is available at all locations. The College welcomes qualified applicants: recent high school graduates, transfer students, international students, working adults, and works with each student individually to develop a degree-completion academic plan. |
