| Rockingham Community College was chartered in 1963 and opened in 1966 as a comprehensive, public community college with an open door admissions policy. The 274-acre campus is located in Wentworth, NC, a small, rural town located approximately 30 minutes from Greensboro, 45 minutes from Winston-Salem, and 1.5 hours from Raleigh.
Approximately 84% of its students reside in Rockingham County, but others are drawn to its outstanding programs and lovely, tree-covered campus. The campus contains 16 buildings which include 51 classrooms, 12 computer labs, 33 labs, and the 40,000-volume Gerald B. James Library. In addition, there is an amphitheatre, auditorium, gymnasium, soccer field, walking track, golf driving range, tennis courts, and a fitness center. RCC offers affordable tuition, flexible schedules, free parking, and a quality child care center. The student/faculty ratio is 22 to 1. |
| Whether success means completing the first two years of college and transferring to a university, studying for an occupation, retraining for a job, updating skills, preparing to start a business or pursuing a special interest, helping students achieve success is RCC's number one priority.
Day and evening classes are offered, along with online and telecourse classes. Since RCC is a fully-accredited institution, college transfer courses are guaranteed to transfer to any other four-year institution as long as a grade of "C" or better is earned. Upon graduation from any technical program of study at RCC, the college will guarantee the student is fully ready to begin an appropriate entry-level position. Should the student not demonstrate proficiency, RCC will provide remediation and retraining at no cost to the employer or employee. |
