College Visits

Exposing students to new environments helps them build awareness of opportunities that are available to them. One of the most effective means to increase awareness among middle and high school students is by visiting college campuses. Through these campus visits, college dreams become a reality for students as they tour campuses across North Carolina.

GEAR UP NC’s partnership with the community college system, private colleges and universities, as well as the public university system has created many opportunities for students to visit a wide variety of campuses, since the beginning of the grant. This is reflected in the measures below:

	74 visits to NC community college campuses (20 of the 58 campuses)
	222 visits to UNC system schools (all 16 four-year universities)
