Academic RequirementsColleges will look at your grade point average (GPA), class rank, advanced coursework, standardized test scores, and extracurricular activities to determine if you will be accepted.
Good grades are important, but it is also very important to challenge yourself academically. Take AP and honors-level courses if they are available. You should meet with your school counselor each semester to make sure you are on track to meet graduation requirements and minimum college requirements.
A good guideline is the
Minimum Course Requirements (MCR) that students must complete for admission to schools in the UNC system (the 16 public state universities). Many colleges and universities have additional requirements beyond the MCR, so be sure to check with schools you are interested in.
