People with careers in marketing management formulate policies and direct the operations of businesses and corporations, nonprofit institutions and other organizations. In small firms, the owner or chief executive officer may assume all advertising, promotions, marketing, sales and public relations responsibilities. In large firms, which may offer numerous products and services nationally or even worldwide, an executive vice president directs overall advertising, promotions, marketing, sales and public relations policies.
Employment in the Marketing Management pathway is expected to grow about as fast as the average for all occupations. Advertising and Marketing managers will be needed to plan, direct, and coordinate advertising campaigns, as well as to introduce new products to the marketplace. They will also be needed to manage digital media campaigns, which often target customers through the use of websites, social media, and live chats. These managers and their departments are important to an organization’s revenue and are less likely to be let go than other types of managers.
