classes throughout the semester!
Important: Please read through the following information before completing the online application. If you have technical issues with the CFNC application, please contact CFNC directly at (866)866-2362 Monday-Thursday, 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. and Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Applications submitted without a social security number or submitted without complete information:
Applications submitted without a Social Security Number require additional processing. If you choose not to disclose your social security number, entry of your application and financial aid will be delayed. In addition, you should be aware that for Tuition Tax Credit documents (1098T) and Federal Financial Aid, Social Security Numbers are required.
Residency: If you do not fully answer the questions regarding your Driver's License information and ALL residency questions, your application will be prompted by our computer system to OUT OF STATE TUITION and you will be registered and billed as an out of state student. Please contact the Admissions Office for further information and assistance at firstname.lastname@example.org or by phone at 828/398-7576, 398-7578, or 398-7577. You can also visit Admissions in the K. Ray Bailey Student Services Center on the Victoria Road campus. Helpful hint: When entering your driver's license issue date, please enter the original issue date if the license is a duplicate. NOTE: Any residency reclassification will only be adjusted prior to the academic term start.
Returning students: The College has a re-admit procedure for inactive students that have not registered for two consecutive semesters (excluding the summer term). Students who meet this re-admit definition will be placed into an unclassified academic program or major and must see an academic advisor in the Bailey Building.

SmarterMeasure. All new students are required to complete SmarterMeasure Online Readiness assessment prior to enrolling in any classes. This assessment will be taken in New Student Orientation and the results will be used to determine whether you will be eligible to take 100% online courses.
Out-of-State Students Enrolling in Distance Education Courses:
Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College is a member of the Southern Regional Education Board which allows students to enroll in distance education classes from the following states: Alabama, Arkansas, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Mississippi, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, and West Virginia.
Asheville-Buncombe Technical Community College is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges to award associate degrees, diplomas and certificates. Now you’re ready to begin the application process. You will become an official student of the college once your application for admission has been successfully submitted and your student record complete.
All students must have graduated from an accredited high school, adult high school or GED program or be 18 years old or older. Students do not have to submit their high school, GED or adult high school diploma to apply to A-B Tech. I hereby certify that I am a graduate of an accredited high school, adult high school or GED program or I am 18 years old or older. If you are still in high school, you must contact the Admissions Office to confirm your high school graduation before registration.
Special note: Throughout the year, A-B Tech’s employees or agents may take photographs of students and college activities. These photographs may appear in various A-B Tech materials including A-B Tech’s website, newsletters, brochures and other marketing and advertising materials. If you do not want your photograph or image to be included in these or other promotional materials, please contact A-B Tech Director of Community Relations & Marketing Kerri Glover at (828) 398-7117.
